So as we all know, 2019 was the year of the “#instahome”. With home accounts popping up here and there – it’s all we can talk about!
I’d like to pretend that I’m not part of this but I must confess; I love seeing hover lines and a complete stranger’s new storage baskets as much as the next person. We no longer have to spend hours on Pinterest searching for grey bedroom ideas or cream dining room. We can now open up our Instagram app and there it is right in front of us. The explore page is flooded with chopped cushions and grey fabric beds and we can’t get enough of it.
One thing you’ll probably notice about your Instagram explore page is that every single picture seems to tie in. Even though each image was posted by a different user, in a different home, in a different town – we are all copying one and other! But is 2020 the year that Instagram fades away from grey?
What trends are in the near future then?
Pantone have chosen Classic Blue as 2020’s colour of the year. It’s a navy colour and if we are honest - blue is something we have all been overlooking. This doesn’t necessarily mean go and paint over your brand new grey wallpaper but even adding a slight pop of colour to your room can make all the difference. A blue rug and cushions or even a blue vase and picture can completely transform your room.
Another colour that goes well with grey is pink! Whether it’s blush, peachy pink, pastel or even a dusky rose. Pink is fun and helps brighten up the room! It’s a perfect tone for all year round and even something as simple as pink flowers can add a spring/summer feel to the room.
Bringing the outdoors into your home is something that we are definitely here for! Faux flowers and large plants are everywhere and looking more realistic than ever. They are excellent to freshen up the room – maximum impact with minimal effort.
We are all slightly guilty of becoming a bit materialistic at times – as much as we’d like to deny it. Bringing some branding into your home doesn’t always have to break the bank. Wall prints, pictures and lamps are a perfect way to tie some class into the room – we have them in store from prices as low as £49. Some of the big names in fashion have also started getting involved – for example, Versace wallpaper. We can’t get enough of their classy prints and designs and we are sure this isn’t going away anytime soon!
Most of the time, if we can see it in the high street with fashion trends it’s also relevant to interior. We’ve had shabby chic but it’s time to make way for industrial furniture. For the past few years we’ve put wooden furniture to the side but a new decade means new details and we are absolutely loving it.
As it’s only March, we are sure there will be plenty new trends appearing throughout the year but we can’t wait to see what you all do with your homes! Use #TheDesignerRooms on Instagram to keep us up to date! Thanks for reading blog number 2 and let us know what you want to see from us in the future!
